Hi, this is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.🚡
Last Saturday, the mountains of the Northern Alps were visible from the rooftop observation deck of the Ropeway's Nishihotakaguchi Station as they emerged from the sea of clouds.
The sea of clouds extended far into the distance, reaching all the way to Mount Hakusan on the border of Ishikawa Prefecture.🏔

Usually, this sea of clouds forms in the morning, but by midday, gaps in the clouds open up, and the sea of clouds disappears.
On this day, however, the sea of clouds remained all day long, which was quite unusual.
The contrast between the blue sky and the white clouds and snow-covered mountains was extremely beautiful -- a sight that was hard to look away from.
At the Ropeway, the likelihood of seeing a sea of clouds increases from autumn to winter.
Please do come and enjoy the unique scenery of this season.
We look forward to your visit!😊

Hi there! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
Today we'd like to show you a recent ceremonial advance photo shoot for a wedding that took place at the Ropeway.📸
The couple say they first met at Shinhotaka!
They selected the tramway as the site of the advance shoot because the place holds special memories for them, and for us this is a great honor.🥰
The shoot took place out in the cold, but the weather was perfect, as if made to order to bless the two celebrants.
Congratulations and best of luck to the happy couple!👩‍❤️‍👨

Shinhotaka Crystal Snow Park in Takayama

At the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway, for the winter period when the world is blanketed in white, we've been holding an event since Friday, December 1 that features two themes: "Chubusangaku National Park," where the tramway is situated, and "the food and traditional handicrafts of Takayama."
This event lets you experience jointly the food culture and traditional crafts of Takayama given life by the water and wood nurtured by the vast natural surrounding, wintertime colors, and mountains of the Northern Alps.

Around Shirakabadaira Station: Nabedaira Kamakura Village
A number of dome-shaped structures made of snow and resembling what are called "kamakura" have been emplaced, and inside the domes, you can experience making traditional Takayama handicrafts (sarubobo figures, braided kumihimo cords, and decorated paper ema panels), and also sample local sakes. Near the domes you can also buy bento meals featuring Hida beef and traditional local dishes, and there's a space where Hida furniture is on display.

Event period
Friday, December 1, 2023 through Monday, February 12, 2024 (national holiday)

Hours
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Fee
Entry is free, but separate fees are required for the hands-on experiences (500 yen and up).
Note: Payment of experience fees must be made using special redeemable tickets.

We look forward to welcoming many visitors!

The New Itadakinomori Area
The Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway is pressing ahead with renewal plans to make the facility even more appealing, and following on the Itadakinomori ("summit forest") Phase I area outside Nishihotakaguchi Station that newly reopened in October 2022, the Phase II area is opening on Thursday, October 19.
Read on for the details!

1. Overview of the Renovated Phase II Area
In the mountaintop area near Nishihotakaguchi Station where Itadakinomori is situated, we are carrying out renewal operations with the concept of "experiencing the unspoiled nature of the world-class Northern Alps with all five senses." in the Phase II area, based on this concept, we are creating a site with walking paths where you can get close to nature in virgin-forest surroundings and easily experience the ambience of mountain strolls in the Yari and Hotaka mountain range.

2. (1) Oshirabisonomichi -- Spot 1
We're creating walking paths where you can see such sights as alpine plants and nurse logs* as you stroll through virgin forest, and we're also installing benches where you can relax and enjoy "forest bathing" -- taking in the forest atmosphere. One notable feature of this forest is the massive trees, estimated to be over a century old, growing like the bosses of the forest.

(2) Nishihonoodoriba -- Spot 2
Along with an observation space where you can experience Mount Nishihotaka up close and feel for yourself the majestic scale of nature, we're also creating spots where you can enjoy the ambience of mountains walks along rocky ridge lines.
It's a bit of a wait, but we hope you're as excited as we are about the grand opening!

Hello there! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
Did you know there's stained glass on the platforms of the No. 2 Ropeway?
It's installed on the second floor of both the ascending and descending stations!
Both stained-glass works express the beauty of the Northern Alps.
Stained-glass installation and gondola with the evening sun as the backdrop🌄
Do be sure to look for the stained glass when you visit the Ropeway!

Hi there! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
Today we'd like to tell you about the menu at Mountain View, the snack area at Nishihotakaguchi Station, the Ropeway's terminus. A year ago the staff revamped the menu and gave it a whole new look! The new menu was devised with even more commitment to using local ingredients. Here's a look at two items.

- Hida pork katsu curry 🐷
Katsu curry featuring breaded cutlets of Hida pork farmed at 900 meters above sea level
- Hida beef curry 🐮
A rich and flavorful curry using generous amounts of Hida beef

Both curry dishes are made with copious portions of local Hida ingredients and are sure to delight adults and children alike.
Other available selections include ramen, beef stew, pasta, and more.
On your next visit to the Ropeway, do be sure to enjoy the delicious dining choices along with the scenery!

Hello there! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
The photos you see here are the Itadakinomori -- the "summit forest" -- that opened in autumn last year, and is now experiencing its first summer.
The temperature at Nishihotakaguchi Station on this day was 19 degrees Celsius.
This temperature is a bit warm for an altitude of 2,000 meters, but it's still much more comfortable here than in the burning summer heat elsewhere throughout Japan.
The sight of visitors strolling and relaxing in the woods with smiles on their faces was delightful.
In October, we plan to open a new area as well -- the Itadakinomori Phase II Area!
The next time you visit Shinhotaka Ropeway, do be sure to check out the Itadakinomori!

Hi there! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
Today, we'll take a look at two hit desserts available in the snack area on Shinhotaka Ropeway's fourth floor.

Itadaki Soft -- 710 yen
This adorable swirl of velvety softserve ice cream comes with a cookie bearing the original "itadaki" (peak) logo.

Itadaki Churros -- 500 yen
These rice-flour churros are in the shape of the peak! They're definitely photo-worthy.

Both of these are popular Ropeway items, and visitors who buy them often pose them for photos at the observation deck, with the mountains as the backdrop.
When you visit the Ropeway, do be sure to savor these tasty treats, too!

Please note that posted prices may be subject to change without notice.

Scenic Summer
Hi, this is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway!
Today we're here to bring you scenic summer views. Dangerously high temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius are continuing throughout Japan, but in the region where the Shinhotaka Ropeway is, humidity is low and even in the summer the temperature doesn't get higher than 20 degrees, so it's quite pleasant and comfortable.

If you're planning to travel to Japan this summer, please do be sure to come and enjoy the delightful coolness of the Shinhotaka Ropeway.
We look forward to your visit!

Resumed Service for the Shinhotaka Ropeway

Hi! This is the Shinhotaka Ropeway aerial tramway.
The tramway's No. 1 Ropeway and No. 2 Ropeway are both now out of service for maintenance.
Service will resume July 21 for the No. 1 Ropeway, and August 10 for the No. 2 Ropeway.
This will mark the long-awaited start of the full-on summer season.
Even at the height of summer, the tramway's summit enjoys maximum temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius as well as low humidity, making for an environment that's quite pleasant and comfortable. Japanese summers are very hot, so come to Shinhotaka and savor refreshing coolness.
We sincerely look forward to your visit!
