昔から、そう呼ばれていた熊野は、かつての紀伊国牟婁（むろ）郡、現在の和歌山県南部～三重県南部をさし、現在でもその片鱗がうかがえ、豊かな森に包まれています。
温暖多雨の気候に育てられた豊かな「森」、豊かな森に端を発する「川」、黒潮に育てられた「海岸・海」そのすべてを体験できる紀伊半島熊野地方。
豊かな自然に包まれていることはさることながら、その文化的な背景を認められ、修験の「吉野」、神仏習合の「熊野」、真言密教の「高野山」と、三種の山岳霊場を結ぶ参詣道、熊野古道（紀伊山地の霊場と参詣道）は2006年6月にUNESCO世界遺産に登録されております。

A new kai-no-o that is Shugendo outfitting for the mountains.

On my recent Southern Omine Okugake training, we had rain for four out of the five days.

The kai-no-o hanging from my waist absorbed so much water that it felt like I was carrying a full water bottle on each side.

So, for my next mountain journey, I made a lightweight version using synthetic fiber.

Lighter, quicker to dry, and hopefully a little easier on the mountains.

From September 12th to 16th, I undertook the Omine Okugake Shugyo.

September 12: Zenki Ura-Gyo
September 13: Zenki → Gyosen-no-Shuku
September 14: Gyosen-no-Shuku → Tamaki Jinja
September 15: Tamaki Jinja → Kumano Hongu Taisha
September 16: Kumano Hongu Taisha → Kumano Nachi Taisha

This year, I was unable to participate in the Okugake Shugyo organized by Sakuramotobo. However, with the kind support and companionship of two fellow practitioners, I was able to complete the entire journey.

Another long-held dream since I began walking the path of Shugendo finally came true: I was able to place the Sakuramotobo's "Hide" at one of the sacred Nabiki along the Southern part of Okugake route.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to everyone who supported me throughout this journey.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Harvest season has come in Hongu !

Because Kumano is often in the path of typhoons, the rice harvest here comes earlier than in other regions.

My café uses rice grown in the fields right in front of Oyunohara, the sacred heart of Kumano.

It’s already been a week since I returned home from the Aikido seminar in Mase, Switzerland.

And I’ve already received an invitation to join the same seminar again in 2027.

I’m truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity.

I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again and training together next year!
