A lot of people ask:
“How many dives do I need before going to Mikomoto?”
But honestly, Mikomoto is not just about the number of logged dives.
Some divers have 200 dives,
yet almost no experience with:
* strong currents
* blue water
* negative entries
Others may only have 50 dives,
but regularly dive in challenging conditions with very solid fundamentals.
What really matters at Mikomoto is:
* Buoyancy control
* Team awareness
* Staying calm under pressure
* Understanding currents
* Air management
* Ability to keep up with the group
* Surface survival skills
Because this is not the kind of ocean where you “slowly take photos.”
Sometimes:
the current starts the moment you descend.
And it’s still there when you surface.
In fact, the surface can sometimes be harder than the dive itself.
And while everyone is focused on the hammerheads,
the most dangerous thing is often:
forgetting your own position and remaining gas.
We honestly don’t really like the mindset of:
“Going to Mikomoto just to check Mikomoto off the list.”
More than your dive count,
what we care about is:
Whether you are truly ready to enter this ocean.
Because Mikomoto is beautiful.
But it has never been a tourist attraction.
