Lotus lakes in Miyagi Prefecture (north-east Japan)

Izunuma Lake, Uchinuma Lake and Naganuma Lake and some other smaller lakes are covered by lotus in summer. The flowers have begun to bloom and seem to reach the peak in the middle of August. The scenery is amazing with pink flowers. We can enjoy boat rides on the lakes till the end of August.

If you have Japan Rail Pass, you certainly know that you can take all the Shinkansen trains (except Nozomi and Mizuho) and that you can also take trains on Tohoku Shinkansen Line, without extra payment.
It would be a good idea to catch a Tohoku Shinkansen to Kurikomakogen Station and stay at a Japanese old house (vacation rental) in the middle of the countryside.　We will pick you up at the station.
On the way to the house, you can see one of the magnificent lakes.

To Japan Rail Pass holders
