Tsushima is a bit further north, so it looks like the cherry blossoms will take a little longer to bloom.
It was freezing just a few days ago, but today is quite warm—the weather is still all over the place! Maybe late March? Or beginning of April.
There are so many cherry trees on the island, I can't wait for a spring drive. 🌸🚗

Shimizuyama to Ariakeyama Traverse ⛰️

Just under 4 hours for this beautiful ridge hike.
It’s right near Izuhara town, so you can easily access the trail even without a car.

Even though it’s February, it already felt hot while hiking — almost T-shirt weather!

Shimizuyama （清水山城）was once a mountain castle of the Sō clan. From each bailey (ichinomaru etc), you get a stunning panoramic view over Izuhara Port. You can still see impressive historic stone walls that tell the story of its past.

Ariakeyama （有明山）has some very steep sections along the way — a good challenge and great workout!

A perfect mix of history, views, and adventure in Tsushima 🌿

While ago, members from Rat Race, a UK-based company that organizes many adventurous events, came to Tsushima, and I had the chance to guide them! 🥰✨

On the first day, we took on an epic trek across Tsushima’s famous mountains: Mt. Shimizuyama, Mt. Ariakeyama, and Mt. Shiratake. I was completely blown away by the incredible athleticism of the two Rat Race members! For our mountain lunch, we had some delicious venison bento from Daidai to refuel with protein. 🍴🐗

Day two was supposed to be a kayak traverse of Asaji Bay, but due to strong winds, we had to change the course for safety. It was such a unique opportunity that I was a little bummed to miss it. Even with the shorter course, my arms were completely exhausted after about five hours of kayaking🦑

Currently, most of our visitors to Tsushima are from Asia, so I would love to see more people from all over the world come here! We’re waiting for you!🌎

A little late to post, but we’d love to introduce a very special guest — Saeed from the UAE 🇦🇪✨

He was our very first international visitor to Tsushima!
Together, we explored the wildlife conservation Center, Toyo Battery, Wadatsumi Shrine, and even hiked up to Kaneda Castle 🏯🌿

With the help of .inc , we had a special collaboration — featuring a real-life samurai!🫶⚔️ Thank you so much for joining us!

At the end of the trip, Saeed kindly taught us how to write “Tsushima” and our names in Arabic 📝✨
It was a truly meaningful exchange that reminded us how beautiful cultural connections can be.

We hope to welcome you back to Tsushima someday soon!

¡Tuvimos el placer de guiar a una encantadora familia de España que visitaba Japón por cuarta vez! 🇪🇸🇯🇵

Disfrutamos juntos de las impresionantes vistas desde el mirador de Manzeki, montamos a caballo en Asō Bay Park con los caballos nativos de Tsushima, y visitamos el santuario Wadatsumi. 🐎⛩️🌊

Como nuestros hijas tenían edades similares, pudimos compartir momentos muy especiales jugando juntos en el coche —¡hasta hicimos janken (piedra, papel o tijera) en japonés! 😊✨

También les encantaron los photocrops originales que preparamos el día anterior para la ocasión. 📸💕

¡Fue un día maravilloso con una familia realmente especial!

Monument of Japan’s Northwesternmost Point , Sago, Tsushima

A short walk from the Wildlife Conservation Center in Sago takes you to a monument marking the northwesternmost point of Japan 🇯🇵

Apparently, there are several “northwesternmost” candidates, but according to Wikipedia, this spot is considered the northwesternmost point of Japan that is reachable and away from the mainland.

There’s also a lighthouse nearby, and it’s a lovely area for a stroll! 🚶‍♀️
