Being fascinated by these beautiful climbing roses now in full bloom at the entrance of the cemetery of the Hotta family in Sakura city, Chiba.

Sakura Domain was prospered as a castle town under the Tokugawa shogunate in Edo period (1603-1867). It was ruled for most of its history by the Hotta clan.

This rose was said to be brought from Europe by the 11th master of the Hotta clan about 100 years ago and planted there. However, the truth still remains to be seen, so it was named as “Sakura Hotta Clan Mystery Rose”☺️✨

佐倉市にある堀田家廟の入り口で、見事なつるバラに目を奪われました✨

このバラは11代当主・堀田正恒伯爵がヨーロッパ留学（大正8年〜10年）の折に持ち帰り、お手植えされたものと言われていますが、その由来はまだ解明できておらず、「佐倉堀田邸ミステリーローズ」と命名されました☺️
