Gorilla trekking in Uganda - an exciting new experience for me after all these years in the conservation and guiding space.

Locking eyes with the Silverback male of the Habinyanja family here in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest was a very special moment.

I found myself torn between capturing the moment and simply just being present and in awe - something anyone who enjoys wildlife photography will be familiar with.

I’m happy to say that I found the perfect balance in capturing a couple of frames before stopping to observe him move through the dense undergrowth of the forest floor. The moment preserved and an opportunity to appreciate every single detail of this magnificent creature as I processed the image - hoping to do justice to the experience.
