What an unforgettable highlight of Makena School’s Book Week 2025!
Yesterday, our learners brought stories to life as they came dressed as their favourite book characters—creative, bold, and absolutely magical! From tiny wizards to brave explorers, each costume told a tale. 🧙🏾♀️🧚🏽♂️🦸🏼♀️
🏆 We also crowned our Book Week Champion 2025 and celebrated the learners with the most imaginative and creative costumes.
At Makena School, we don’t just read books—we live them. This week, we didn’t just open pages…

Learning at Makena is not limited to books and blackboards—it flows into every part of a child’s life, including the pool! 💧 Our swimming sessions are more than just fun; they build confidence, discipline, and essential life-saving skills. We’re proud to offer experiences that nurture the whole child—mind, body, and heart. Every splash is a step toward growth. 🌟

Last Friday marked the end of the term. We celebrated the PP2 and Grade 6 classes of 2024 and are extremely proud of their growth and development. We also take pride in every single Makena student who continues to do their best, as well as the teachers who encourage and guide them through this journey.

And when we're not learning our ABC's, we're learning how to express ourselves through dance. It's always exciting to watch how thrilled they are.

Spreading love the Makena way.
The primary section visited Star of Hope Children's home where they spent time with the children and got to give back. While the Kindergarten spent time with each other and continued to practice what they're constantly learning 'sharing is caring '.
Overall, a day well spent.
We wish you a Happy Valentines Day!

Are we preparing our students for the world? This is what we seek to answer as educators.
As educators, when we look at the current world, a lot has changed but education is the only industry
that seems to still be static. Despite all the education our students receive, are we really preparing them for the world?
At Makena School, our aim is to change this. We constantly feel challenged to ensure that our students receive the best foundation and feel prepared for the next steps of their educational journey and lives.
We, however, know that education is not only about academics, it is about developing and nurturing a culture of curiosity and learning in our students. We seek to ensure that our students are not only equipped with skills and knowledge that is relevant but that they develop a mindset that is constantly
curious and willing to learn and unlearn.
Education does not end in school, but it is lifelong and this is the kind of culture we want to instill in our students.
We aim to provide holistic education that allows our students to discover, nurture and excel in their abilities. School is not just about academics, hence ensuring that we also provide extra-curricular that allow our students to explore and nurture different interests.
We aim to be a progressive school that will lead in trying new education ideas through our inquiry-based learning methods.
In compliance with the Competency Based Curriculum provided by the Ministry of Education, we hope to inspire our students to be ‘engaged, empowered and ethical citizens that feel equipped with skills and knowledge that they need to thrive in the 21st century.’
