One of the nicest things about safari with children is watching how quickly they settle into bush life.

By day three they’re spotting tracks, chatting to the guides, climbing onto the vehicle roof for a breakfast hot chocolate and asking endless questions about absolutely everything!

Private safari gives families the time and space for that to happen naturally.

The key to a successful family safari? Flexibility.

Knowing when to head out on a game drive - and when to stop for a swim, a slow breakfast or simply let children run around camp instead.

Choosing camps that genuinely work for families makes a huge difference too. Some are wonderful for adults, but not always designed with younger travellers in mind.

And then there are the people. Families may arrive for the wildlife, but so often leave talking about the warmth, kindness and humour of the people they met along the way. Kenya is an extraordinary place to experience through the eyes of children.

A few thoughts on why we think private family safaris work so well.

100 years old today, and still changing the way people see the natural world.

Few people have shaped our understanding of wildlife, conservation and the importance of protecting wild places quite like David Attenborough

For many of us working in safari, his storytelling sparked the fascination long before we ever stepped foot in the bush ourselves. And even now, after years living and working in East Africa, there are moments out there that still feel every bit as extraordinary as they did watching them through his lens for the first time.

A reminder too that these landscapes, cultures and species are not guaranteed. They survive because people care enough to protect them.

Happy 100th, Sir David - and thank you for helping generations fall in love with the wild!

There’s something incredibly special about experiencing the wilderness on horseback.

Away from roads and vehicles, you notice everything differently - the sound of zebra moving through the grass, giraffe watching curiously from the trees, the stillness of the landscape around you.

Whether horses are a lifelong passion or you simply fancy a gentle ride through the bush, it’s an experience guests rarely forget.

For us, Borana Conservancy holds a huge amount of personal history too, which makes sharing it with guests even more meaningful.

Amboseli, but experienced differently.

Through our partnership with Ker & Downey, time in Kitirua is shaped by real relationships - not staged moments.

This is where culture isn’t shown to you, it’s shared.

A tender moment on Lewa Conservancy

One of Kenya’s most important rhino sanctuaries, Lewa has played a pivotal role in the recovery of both black and white rhino - protecting them across 62,000 acres of carefully managed wilderness.

Protection isn’t loud.
It’s steady.
