The rich cultural heritage of Kauma people was on full display at the historic Kaya Kauma Forest as seven traditional groups came together to celebrate culture, unity, and identity.

Through song, dance, and storytelling, the groups showcased the traditions that have been passed down through generations, reminding us of the importance of preserving our heritage for future generations.

🇰🇪 Madaraka Day 2026 Celebrating 63 Years of Self-Governance!
On this historic day, As a department we join all Kenyans in celebrating Madaraka Day , a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and vision of our founding fathers who fought so that we may govern ourselves.63 years ago, Kenya took a bold step toward self-determination.

Today, that spirit lives on in every project we deliver, every service we improve, and every life we touch at the grassroots level.

Here in Kilifi County, we remain committed to honouring that legacy — not just in words, but in action:
✅ Opening up markets and trade opportunities
✅ Growing our tourism potential
✅ Empowering SACCO for people to thrive.

True Madaraka, true freedom means access to services, opportunity, and dignity for every resident of this county.
That is the work we wake up to do every day.

Heri ya Madaraka! Pamoja Tunaweza! 🇰🇪

“From Mara to Kilifi — Experience Kenya’s Twin Migration”

From the golden plains of the Maasai Mara to the blue waters of Watamu, Kenya offers one of nature’s most extraordinary untold stories.

Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles thunder across the Serengeti into the Maasai Mara in search of greener pastures. Rivers rage, predators stalk silently, and dust rises beneath pounding hooves in what the world calls the “Seventh Wonder of the World.”

At the very same time, another migration quietly unfolds along the coast of Kilifi. In the calm blue waters of Watamu, humpback whales arrive after traveling thousands of kilometers from Antarctica, marking the beginning of Kenya’s “Other Migration.”

From July to October, Kenya becomes the only destination where visitors can witness both a land migration and a marine migration within one journey. While the Mara crossing shakes the earth, the humpback migration stirs the soul — a peaceful marine ballet of breaching whales, mothers swimming beside calves, and dolphins dancing through the waves.

An estimated 60–100 humpback whales visit the Watamu and Kilifi coastline every season, further positioning Kilifi as Africa’s emerging marine safari destination.

The Twin Migration tells a unique Kenyan story where wildlife meets ocean life, and conservation meets culture. It is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience that continues to capture the imagination of travelers, photographers, filmmakers, and adventurers from around the world.
