This Madaraka Day, we’re reflecting on what freedom means today.
For those who came before us, it meant the right to shape their own future. For Mekatilili wa Menza, it meant standing firm in defense of culture, identity, and community.
As we sail the waters that have carried generations of stories, we’re reminded that freedom is not only something we inherit it’s something we continue to define through the lives we live, the stories we preserve, and the connections we build.
