On June 28th, 2024, the dedicated members of Dunga Ecotourism and Environmental C.B.O, in collaboration with their partners at Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, sprang into action to save a yellow-billed stork in distress.

This majestic bird, typically active during the day, had inexplicably started hunting at night, putting its life in jeopardy. Weak and struggling to fly, with signs of illness and chills, the stork was in urgent need of help.

Thanks to the swift intervention of both teams, the stork is now undergoing treatment and showing promising signs of recovery.

This heartwarming rescue story serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of DECTTA and Kisumu Impala Sanctuary to safeguarding the environment and preserving our precious natural biodiversity.

Hats off to these dedicated individuals for their compassion and proactive efforts in protecting our wildlife.

- They have long, narrow wings and a streamlined body that helps them achieve these high speeds
- Peregrine falcons are found on every continent except Antarctica
- They have a unique hunting technique called "stooping" where they dive from great heights to capture their prey
- Peregrine falcons were once endangered due to the use of pesticides like DDT, but conservation efforts have helped their populations recover
- They are known for their distinctive black and white markings on their faces and bodies
- Peregrine falcons mate for life and often return to the same nesting site year after year
- They primarily feed on other birds, such as pigeons and ducks, but will also eat small mammals and insects.
