Buffalo in the Storm 🌩️🐃
We sat amongst a huge herd of buffalo while staying at Mara Nyika in the Naboisho Conservancy, watching a storm slowly roll in across the plains. While many people think rain on safari can ruin the experience, it can actually add so much atmosphere and emotion to it. Dramatic skies, rich colours, shifting light and the excitement of the storm itself all create something incredibly special.
We took the opportunity to photograph the herd as the clouds built overhead, later turning the images into black and white which felt so fitting with the moody skies. It added such depth, drama and intensity to the moment.
Clear skies and dry weather are always wonderful on safari, but never shy away from an epic storm. Often, those unexpected moments become the most memorable part of the adventure!
And of course… a little splash of colour and a Pumba at the end of the rainbow to finish things off 🌈
