The Couple Hagström together with New Life Mission have worked within this area for over 20 years in various projects, with focus on Children’s education, protecting young girls from early marriage, rehabilitations of street boys, feeding program in the district, water shallow wells, drip irrigation and farming. New life mission is a non-governmental organization based in Ongata Rongai and Mashuru working to improve the living standards of people. Osero Camp became a product of the social work that the couple Hagström together with New Life Mission are active in. Osero Camp gives you the opportunity to stay and experience this work, the nature and the Maasai community. ACCOMMODATION
Permanent tents built on concrete
base, with netting across all windows and doors. Allowing only the breeze to enter and ensure the possibility of sleeping in very close contact with nature. Osero camp consists of five accommodation tents, equipped with in built bathrooms with a sink, shower stall with hot running water and flush toilet. To ensure our guest’s comfort and safety, all tents are fully insect proof, and have an own verandah. Dinning and food options at the camp:
• At Osero we give you the option of your meals prepared by our experienced chef with your preferred menu, and one of the highlights on your stay with us is to serve you tasty food, on the cozy verandah or in the big dining tent.
• You get to experience the Maasai Nyama Choma (BBQ). This evening is about tasty local meats with side dishes influenced by the Kenyan cuisine.
• The other option is to carry your own food and use the camp kitchen and its staff. THINGS TO DO
Nature Walks:
Experience the sunrise and sunset on our daily nature walks with our local guide and get in close contact with some of the wild animals that cohabit with the people. This gives first hand experience with the Maasai community. It’s an opportunity to know and understand their way of life. The visits of the Boma are also well coordinated by new life missions thus being of importance to the community.
