A leopard rests in the tree above. Elephants move steadily below. There’s no drama here, no interaction, and no sense that anything unusual is happening. Because it isn’t. This is how the bush works. Different species passing through the same space, doing what they always do, unaware of the edges we draw around them.
It’s easy to think safari is about chasing moments, but the more time you spend in places like this, the more you’ll realise that the best experiences aren’t the loudest.
If you’re planning a safari, don’t focus on what you want to see alone. Focus on how and where you want to spend your time. Choose stillness and choose places whose guides who know when to wait. Often, the most interesting things happen when nothing seems to be happening at all.
