Why do we keep marketing Kenya as if every traveller wants the same safari experience?

Fort Jesus is a 16th-century Portuguese fortress located on Mombasa Island, Kenya, and stands as one of the most exceptionally well-preserved examples of Portuguese military architecture in the world.

Commissioned by King Philip I of Portugal and built between 1593 and 1596, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was strategically placed on a coral ridge to protect the Old Port of Mombasa and control Indian Ocean trade. When viewed from above, the fort is uniquely designed in the shape of a man lying on his back, a layout conceptualized by Milanese architect Giovanni Battista Cairati.

If you’re interested in wildlife and conservation, this is one of the more unique safari areas in Kenya. Many travelers visit because it combines classic game viewing with conservation work you can actually see.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy sits in Laikipia County near the town of Nanyuki, with views of Mount Kenya in the distance. The conservancy covers large open plains, acacia woodland, and grassland. Visitors come here for safari drives and to see one of East Africa’s largest black rhino populations, along with elephants, lions, buffalo, and many other animals. The atmosphere feels like a working conservation area rather than just a park.

Must sees:
• The rhino sanctuary, home to many black and white rhinos
• The chimpanzee sanctuary for rescued chimps
• Views of wildlife on the plains with Mount Kenya in the background
Must dos:
• Join a guided game drive to spot rhinos and other wildlife

Giraffe Centre Nairobi Kenya🦒

If you want a simple wildlife experience in Nairobi without leaving the city, this is one of the easiest places to visit. It’s popular with travelers who want to see giraffes up close and learn a bit about conservation.

The Giraffe Centre is located in the Karen area of Nairobi. It’s a conservation and education center focused on protecting the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Visitors come here to feed the giraffes from a raised platform, learn about the species, and spend some time around the small nature trail.

• The raised feeding platform where giraffes come right up to visitors
• The long giraffe tongues reaching for food pellets

If you’re planning a safari in Kenya, this is one place that many travelers include on their route. It’s known for wildlife, birdlife, and scenic views around the lake.
Lake Nakuru sits inside Lake Nakuru National Park in Kenya’s Rift Valley. The lake is shallow and surrounded by grasslands, acacia trees, and rocky hills. People usually visit during game drives to see animals and birds around the shoreline. The atmosphere is relaxed and natural, with plenty of wildlife moving through the park.
Must sees:
• Flamingos and pelicans gathered along the lake
• Black and white rhinos inside the protected sanctuary
• Wide views of the lake from Baboon Cliff

Must dos:

• Start your game drive early in the morning for better wildlife sightings
