The Martyrs of Badr – The First Heroes of Islam
This picture was captured during our July 2025 Umrah, at the site of Badr, where the first major battle of Islam took place.
Standing beside the resting place of the 14 noble Companions who gave their lives in defense of the truth.

The 14 Martyrs of Badr (رضي الله عنهم):
1. ʿUbaydah ibn al-Ḥārith
2. Saʿd ibn Khaythamah
3. ʿUmayr ibn Abī Waqās
4. Ḥārithah ibn Surāqah
5. ʿAwf ibn al-Ḥārith
6. Muʿawwidh ibn al-Ḥārith
7. Dhuʾaybah al-Khazrajī
8. Mubashshir ibn ʿAbd al-Mundhir
9. ʿAqīl ibn al-Bukayr
10. Rāfiʿ ibn al-Muʿalla
11. Yazīd ibn al-Ḥārith
12. ʿUmayr ibn al-Ḥumām
13. Mihjaʿ (freed slave of ʿUmar)
14. Safwān ibn Bayḍāʾ
They were from the Muhājirīn and the Anṣār, united by their love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.
Badr was not just a battle, it was the Day of Criterion.
