Getting There:
The reserve is approximately 270 km from Nairobi, and you can access it by road or flight. There are six entrance gates, including Oloololo Gate(Mara Triangle Gate) Oloolaimutia Gate, Musiara Gate,Takek Gate,Sand River Gate and Sekenani Gate.
These gates provide access to different parts of the reserve and surrounding conservancies. The specific gate you use might depend on your accommodation, itinerary, or the part of the reserve you plan to visit.
The drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara typically takes around 5-6 hours, depending on the entry gate and road conditions.
- Sekenani Gate: 5.5 to 6 hours, covering approximately 225 kilometers
- Talek Gate: 5.5 to 6 hours
- Oloolaimutia Gate: 6 hours
- Musiara Gate: 6.5 hours, located on the western side of the reserve
- Oloololo Gate: 6.5 hours, closer to the Maasai Mara Conservancy and Mara Triangle
