Where remote takes on new meaning ๐Ÿ’ซ

Tucked away on the side of a low kopje overlooking gently rolling plains with views of distant hills beyond.

This is one of the most remote areas of the northern Serengeti, making it exclusive and intimate, especially outside of the great migration, which has its peak between July and October each year.

The game viewing is exceptional here all year round, with some of the highest concentrations of elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, and hyena in the Serengeti.

The Mara River is just a 35-minute drive away from camp as it winds its way through the plains, en-route to Lake Victoria in the west.

It's home to huge pods of hippo and some of the largest crocodiles in Africa, thanks to the countless wildebeest and zebra that fall prey to these gargantuan reptiles as the herds cross the river during the great migration.

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, a reason why its gardens and trees are so lush and mature.

All the buildings follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical roofs, and these stretch along the line of the hills with the impressively large public area buildings and the swimming pool at their centre.

This is a contemporary-looking 6-tents safari camp located in the heart of Mara Naboisho Conservancy, in the midst of the African wilderness.

Combining high-end living and pure nature in what is considered one of the best-managed conservancies in the Masai Mara eco-system, it is located close to a series of 3 waterholes where the wild animals come to drink through the day.

The secluded valley where it sits is also the home of an historically and culturally significant Masai Mara Fig Tree. Dubbed Double Fig Tree, it was struck by lightning in the 1950s, as told by the local people. The tree was splintered in two, giving it its unusual shape, and it is revered by the Maasai people.

Built almost under this Fig Tree, the camp has the perfect sunrises and sunsets. While enjoying your morning coffee on the terrace, you can admire the horizon, with the sky blazing in magnificent colours while the African savannah gives its soundtrack of wildlife calls.
