The Northen part of Kenya hides some gems that you will not find anywhere else.
A group of 5 different animals,only found in that part of the world,except two that are found in neighbouring countries ; Somalia and Ethiopia albeit in very small numbers,the few who are yet to complete their immigration clearance at the border.

These special animals are also known as The Samburu Special Five,as they are found in the Samburu area,a place with three different national reserves;The Samburu National Reserve,Buffalo Springs National Reserve and Shaba National Reserve.Hidden gems.

The animals are;
The Grevys Zebra;the biggest of the three species of zebras in Africa,tall,rare with very narrow tight stripes and big round ears.
The Gerenuk/The Giraffe Gazelle-Very long neck,a small head with large ears and eyes and love feeding on shrubs while standing on back legs.
The Reticulated Giraffe-The most beautiful giraffe.Red brown coat with distinctive white lines separating them.Also the largest of all giraffe in size.
The Somali Ostrich-Distinctive blue neck and thighs.
The Beisa Oryx-a semidesert true survivor,with a grey coat and white belly.

The Zebra.

One of the most beautiful animals native to Africa,each of them having a striped coat,that is as unique as our fingerprints.They share the colors,not the pattern.

These colors work to their advantage,because they love being in groups called harlems,with several females,one stallion and their foals,the unorganized black and white color makes it hard for a predator to focus on one.

The sharp change of colors also keeps away flies,they cannot just see where land.

Africa has 3 species of Zebras,The Common Plain Zebra,found across Africa,The Grevys Zebra,found only in Northern parts of Kenya and The Mountain Zebra found in mountains of Southern African countries.

Gestation period,11 to 13 months depending on species,with the foal being able to run about in just six minutes.
Stallions are known to practice infanticide,killing foals they have not sired.
