Tender leaves are handpicked or mechanically harvested from the Gatura Greens plant at their peak stage for quality.

Withering:
Leaves are left to wilt, reducing moisture and softening them for the next steps in both tea and greens processing.

Rolling:
The leaves are rolled to release oils and enzymes, shaping them and initiating oxidation for tea or preparation for greens.

Oxidation/Firing:
For tea, leaves oxidize to develop flavor (black tea) or are steamed to preserve freshness (green tea). Gatura Greens may be briefly steamed or processed for flavor enhancement.

Drying:
Leaves are dried to remove moisture, ensuring stability and freshness, especially for storage.

Sorting & Grading:
The dried leaves are sorted by quality, size, and appearance for consistency in flavor or appearance.

Our clients celebrated their Christmas in the heart of the Masai Mara, surrounded by the stunning beauty of Africa's wildlife. Pelicans are a genus of large water birds that make up the family Pelecanidae.They are characterized by a long beak and a large throat pouch used for catching prey and draining water from the scooped-up contents before swallowing.

They have special air sacs beneath their skin that they inflate just before impact to protect internal organs.When diving,they rotate to the left avoiding injuring their trachea and esophagus,which run along the right side of their neck.

Pelicans represent revitalization, regrowth, and learning from mistakes. Pelicans may also represent navigation and safe travels. They are sea birds most commonly seen near coastlines, so for sailors a pelican might represent homecoming. They may also represent anglers.

Pelicans lay one to four bluish white eggs in a stick nest, and the young hatch in about a month. The young live on regurgitated food obtained by thrusting their bills down the parent's gullet.Pelicans can carry fleas and other parasites, but a vigorous banging of the wings on the water gets rid of most of them.
