WEEK II MAY; Breathtaking Natural Wonders – Africa’s Most Stunning Landscapes

PART IV: - VICTORIA FALLS ZAMBIA/ZIMBABWE

Victoria Falls, locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya—“The Smoke That Thunders”—is one of the largest and most powerful waterfalls in the world, straddling the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. With a curtain of water over 1.7 kilometers wide and drops of up to 108 meters, it creates a mist visible from over 20 kilometers away. Whether you’re viewing it from the Knife-Edge Bridge or taking a dip in the Devil’s Pool, the experience is unforgettable.

WEEK II MAY; Breathtaking Natural Wonders – Africa’s Most Stunning Landscapes

PART III: - THE DANAKIL DEPRESSION ETHIOPIA

The Danakil Depression in Ethiopia is one of the most extreme environments on Earth—a surreal, colorful basin of lava lakes, neon-colored acid springs, and vast salt plains. Sitting at around 125 meters below sea level, it’s also one of the hottest inhabited places on the planet, with daytime temperatures regularly soaring above 45°C (113°F). Despite its harshness, it's home to the resilient Afar people, who have adapted to its brutal beauty for centuries.

WEEK II MAY; Breathtaking Natural Wonders – Africa’s Most Stunning Landscapes

PART II; BLYDE RIVER CANYON, MPUMALANGA - SOUTH AFRICA

Blyde River Canyon is one of the largest canyons on Earth—and arguably the greenest. Carved by the Blyde River in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province, it's home to dramatic cliffs, panoramic viewpoints like God’s Window, and unique rock formations such as the Three Rondavels. It’s where raw nature meets jaw-dropping beauty.

WEEK 2 MAY;- Breathtaking Natural Wonders – Africa’s Most Stunning Landscapes

PART I: The Eye of the Sahara (Mauritania)

From space, it looks like a fossilized ripple in the desert.
Locals call it the Eye of Africa—scientists call it the Richat Structure.

WEEK 1 MAY: Africa's Underrated National Parks and Reserves

Part II;- Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve (continuation...)

Deep in the highlands of central Malawi lies Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve—a park once on the brink of collapse, now quietly becoming one of Africa’s most inspiring conservation stories.

Spanning over 1,800 km², Nkhotakota is Malawi’s oldest reserve, home to rugged hills, miombo woodlands, and the life-giving Bua River that winds through its heart. But for years, poaching had stripped it of most of its wildlife… until everything changed.

In a bold move, over 500 elephants and other wildlife were relocated here from overpopulated reserves like Liwonde and Majete in one of the largest elephant translocations in history.

Today, it’s a haven for birders, walkers, and those who crave authentic wilderness without fences, traffic, or noise.

Why you should care? Because Nkhotakota proves that with the right hands and heart, Africa’s wild spaces can rise again.

🐘 500+ elephants
🦜 280+ bird species
🚶‍♂️Walking safaris, not game drives
🌍 Still wild, still untouched

📍Malawi’s best-kept safari secret.

Would you add Nkhotakota to your African wishlist?

WEEK 1 MAY: Africa's Underrated National Parks and Reserves

Part 1;- Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve
In a remote corner of Malawi, over 500 elephants roam free, quietly reclaiming their space in one of Africa’s oldest wildlife reserves.

No crowds. No safari traffic. Just nature, raw and reborn.

This isn’t Kruger. It’s not the Serengeti. And yet, it tells one of the continent’s most powerful conservation stories.

Tomorrow, we take you inside Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve — the comeback you never heard about.

APRIL Week 4: Conservation Stories – Wildlife Rescues & Success Stories

PART III;- The Story of ROI

Roi was just 10 months old when tragedy struck in Kenya’s Masai Mara in 2014. She was spotted wandering in distress, trying to stay near the carcass of her mother — a heartbreaking scene that moved even the most seasoned rangers. Upon closer inspection of the dead mother revealed that she had been poached and died from a poisoned spear wound on her cheek.

The DSWT/KWS team mobilized immediately, organizing an aerial rescue operation, and she was flown to the Nairobi Nursery. Upon arrival, she was malnourished, traumatized, and deeply grieving.

But with expert veterinary care, daily bottle feeds, and emotional support from the other orphans and caretakers, Roi slowly began to heal — physically and emotionally.

APRIL Week 4: Conservation Stories – Wildlife Rescues & Success Stories

PART II;- The Return of Lions to Akagera National Park Rwanda

After the 1994 Rwandan Genocide, thousands of people were displaced and settled in and around Akagera National Park. To survive, many turned to the land for farming and livestock grazing — and lions were seen as a threat. As human-wildlife conflict intensified, the lions were hunted and poisoned until they completely disappeared from the park by the early 2000s.

But Rwanda didn’t give up. In 2015, seven lions were reintroduced, brought from South Africa by African Parks and the Rwandan government. Thanks to strong protection and conservation efforts, the lion population has since tripled — and they're thriving.
