River Mathioya, Purple Tea Farm Trek.

Gacharage-ini Village, Murang'a County. If you are looking for a backcountry trail within Murang'a County, we might have stumbled on to something beautiful on our last hike that might be worth your time. It's a trek along the majestic Mathioya River that's combined with a purple tea farm tour to make it a 14km trail. The trail starts and ends at Gacharage-ini Village and it's under the custodianship of Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge, a private lodge built at the foot of the southern Aberdare ranges, overlooking Mathioya River and it's combination with Karaitho River contribute to the lush trail and scenery of the area....

Postcards from our weekend hike that started and ended at ABERDARE COTTAGES and FISHING LODGE in Gacharage-ini Village, Murang'a County.

14km of River Mathioya and Karaitho trek, a purple tea farm tour and a backcountry trek.

We are heading back to Mt Elgon end of May.
30th May - 1st June.
We travel on 30th, hike early on 31st and travel back overnight, arriving early Monday morning 1st June.
Rate for this event is Kes 16000 for citizens, Kes 18000 for residents and Kes 20000 for non residents.
