The African rock python is one of the largest snakes in Africa, known for its powerful constricting abilities.

Their constricting force is estimated to be around 3-4 times that of a human's grip strength.

They can exert a pressure of up to 3.7-5.5 MPa (megapascals), which is strong enough to crush the bones of their prey.

African rock pythons are stealthy hunters that ambush their prey, wrapping their bodies around it and squeezing until the prey suffocates or dies from circulatory failure.

They can consume prey whole, including small antelopes, monkeys, and even larger animals like impalas.
They also excellent swimmers and can stay underwater for up to 30 minutes.

They have heat-sensing pits that help them detect warm-blooded prey.
