There have been some challenges in the Mara this week with some dramatic weather! All the rivers are in flood, many areas cut off, and some camps severely damaged. All good with us though and in fact making a wonderful private experience for us with nobody else able to operate in our region of the Mara!

After so many years of wildlife viewing it is not often that we get surprised by what we get to see, but this was right up there, to see a leopard catch a Bat Eared Fox and carry it to a secluded shady spot to eat was quite extraordinary.

Every now and again we find ourselves in the presence of something extraordinary. This was the case on the last day of 2025, what a gift to be able to follow, photograph and enjoy this most unusual and beautiful of creatures. To be able to do this with any leopard is wonderful, but to be able to do this with the rarest form of a leopard, a melanistic black leopard, is simply incredible!
