One of the most fascinating things about a serval is its ears. The largest ears of any cat relative to its body size, they act as precision instruments, allowing the serval to pinpoint the faintest movement in the grass, even when its prey is hidden from view. Once located, the serval moves into a crouch before launching into a spectacular leap, using its long, powerful legs to descend upon its unsuspecting prey.
Largely nocturnal, solitary and generally shy, servals are seldom seen, making a daytime sighting a rare treat and one that is always unforgettable.
