From our family-run properties in some of the country’s wildest corners to journeys that take you further afield, we bring together remarkable wildlife, rich cultures, beautiful landscapes and plenty of unexpected moments along the way. Every journey has purpose, too. Through Our Footprint, the simple act of staying with us helps support the people, wildlife and landscapes that make these places so special. From conservation partnerships to community projects, our impact is woven into everything we do. And no two adventures need to look the same. Meet three of the talented head chefs bringing their passion for food to the table across The Safari Collection 🍽️

At Giraffe Manor, Chef David Kisevu’s culinary journey began with washing dishes in Diani, before a love of cooking led him to the kitchen.

At Sala’s Camp, Chef Joseph’s passion for seafood was inspired by his mother’s cooking and childhood memories of tilapia from Lake Naivasha.

And at Sasaab, Chef Solomon’s love of food began with family gatherings, learning from his older brother and cooking for his community.

From Swahili red snapper kebabs to hearty wilderness pots and fragrant Moroccan-inspired tagines, each chef brings a little of their own story to every dish.

An unforgettable safari should leave more than memories.

We are guided by The Long Run's 4Cs framework for holistic sustainability - for us, Commerce means building a business that supports the people, wildlife and landscapes at the heart of every stay.

In 2025, that meant investing in solar power at Sasaab, championing Kenyan growers and artisans, and making thoughtful choices about what we buy, serve and reuse. Five beehives at Giraffe Manor supported pollination, while worm farms turned kitchen scraps into nourishment for our gardens. Across our operations, 95% of waste was recycled, composted or upcycled.

Every guest contributes through conservation fees and the employment their stay supports. Alongside the generosity of our donors and partners, this helps sustain conservation and community initiatives across Kenya.

This is Commerce with purpose: exceptional experiences, connected to something that lasts long after the safari ends.

Bare feet, warm Samburu air and nowhere else to be.

Wellness at Sasaab follows the rhythm of the wild: stretch as the bush wakes up, savour fresh, nourishing food, breathe deeply and leave a little room in the day for doing absolutely nothing.

Because adventure doesn't always mean going further. Sometimes, the greatest luxury is simply staying still long enough to take it all in.

From Samburu to the sea.

This August, 26 of our Conservation Scholars swapped northern Kenya for a week of discovery on the coast, exploring Arabuko-Sokoke Forest and the communities working to protect it.

From butterflies and ancient ruins to snakes, mangroves and turtle conservation, there was plenty to discover!

One memorable encounter was with the women of the Ufanisi group, who shared their knowledge of traditional medicinal plants. As their chairlady put it: “People can steal our ideas, but they can’t steal us.”

Evenings brought conservation conversations around the bonfire with Sammy, who shared the forest wisdom passed down to him by his father, who lived to 103.

A week of new friendships, fresh perspectives and plenty of stories to take home 💚
