HEVA Fund is seeking a research and analytics firm to undertake a comprehensive study of its Kenya portfolio, generating insights on lending performance, financing demand, investment readiness, cost of capital, and the business models most suited for finance.

Drawing on more than a decade of lending data and a portfolio spanning film, fashion, music, visual arts, and performing arts, the study will generate practical insights for financial institutions, development finance institutions (DFIs), investors, and ecosystem stakeholders interested in financing the creative economy.

Interested firms can download the TOR and submit proposals by 12 June 2026 at 5:00 PM EAT.

Do you know how yarn is made?

How cotton becomes thread, thread becomes fabric, and fabric becomes a story you can carry?

In Kisumu, we met women who have mastered this craft over the years, spinning, stitching, weaving beauty with their own hands.
For them, this has always been work. Skill. Routine, but in the middle of conversation, there was a pause, then recognition. A realisation that what they’ve been doing all along carries value beyond the immediate. That it is part of something bigger.

We’re spending more time on the ground, listening, observing, and connecting the dots between skill, identity, and opportunity.

More from the field, and what it’s teaching us, coming soon.

What does access to funding actually look like in practice?

Across 6 counties, we worked directly with creatives navigating the application process—and what emerged goes beyond the numbers.

Access isn’t just about availability.
It’s about infrastructure, clarity, confidence, and context.

One of the best parts of Tuesday's pre-IWD breakfast was getting to meet the women whose content we consume on IG and TikTok (a.k.a fan-girling), hearing how far they have come, and listening to where they are headed next.

The sixteen content creators from Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kakamega, Turkana, and Nairobi told us what they are building and what they need to get there. The answers were specific and the ambition was real. They want better equipment to match the quality of content they know they are capable of. Tools that make the process faster so they can produce more. Support to build a business that sustains them.

Under the Sanara Program, each creator received a starter kit grant with equipment of their choice.

is HEVA’s take on what Rights. Justice. Action. It’s access to assets, tools, infrastructure, and capital to grow.
