Quite a lot has been happening at EASV over the last few months. Many of you will remember that we partnered with the US-based Natural Habitat Adventures for a period of time, some years ago. We are delighted to announce that we have officially re-joined forces and are now operating under our new company name, Natural Habitat Safaris - East Africa.

For those of you who know us well and have travelled or stayed with us, very little will change. Our team, our approach, and the experiences we create remain exactly as you know them.

As part of this change, we will no longer be posting from our East Africa Safari Ventures profiles, so this page will gently come to a close. You can follow Natural Habitat Adventures on

Rhinos have a reputation for being solitary, however this is not always the case. White rhinos are a little more gregarious and can sometimes be found in groups of up to 15. It is always exciting to see more than one in the wild, especially when they have a young one with them. Wandering the plains and even enjoying a delicious mud bath.

It is hard not to be inspired by the strength, knowledge, and resilience of the women we meet on our journeys. From community leaders and artisans - take a look at the beadwork, to the amazing women who are part of our own team, their stories and traditions are an important part of what makes East Africa so special.

We are also proud to support organisations that help to create opportunities for the next generation.

In Kenya, secondary education is not free, and many young people never have the opportunity to complete their schooling. Cultural pressures, early marriage, and harmful practices such as female ge***al mutilation can make the path even more difficult for girls, Kenya Education Fund (KEF), provides boarding school scholarships to bright students from financially challenged backgrounds and since 2001, has awarded almost 5,000 scholarships, helping talented young people complete high school and move on to higher education or a career.

Today we celebrate the women we work with across East Africa and the organisations helping the next generation of girls.

The clean-up crew have arrived and they just keep coming. This sped-up footage shows how quickly a carcass attracts vultures from across the surrounding landscape.

Nature wastes nothing. Within minutes, birds begin circling and descending, each playing an important role in keeping the ecosystem in balance.

Everyone is very chilled, enjoying a quiet moment. Then one of the cubs goes in for a Daddy snuggle. Very sweet. It’s often these little moments that are the most memorable on safari.

Creating the right atmosphere begins with the setting. At Leleshwa Camp, the mess tent is prepared and waiting to welcome guests back for dinner, after a relaxed sundowner beside the campfire, as the light fades across the plains.

In more than 25 years of guiding, Joe has never seen a pangolin in the wild. We all know the Big Five, yet for Joe there is a “small one” that has quietly loomed large over his safari adventures.

He once believed the Okavango might offer a glimpse. Pangolin sculptures and artwork appeared in several places, giving the impression that the animals must be close by. Yet the search continued without success, the pangolin remaining as elusive as ever. In truth, the nearest Joe has come was artwork, and a single carapace resting on top of a filing cabinet in Zimbabwe.

Despite being so rarely seen, pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world. Illegal wildlife trade has caused their numbers to fall sharply, with more than a million pangolins taken from the wild over the past decade.

World Pangolin Day is a reminder of why these gentle, remarkable creatures deserve protection, and why safeguarding their future matters.

Getting down is easy, but sometimes getting up can be a bit of a struggle. When playtime is over, that is when you need a helping hand and or a supportive trunk to get you back on your feet.

Even though this lioness most definitely had the element of surprise, we watched as she decided to stay put. A fully grown buffalo is a formidable challenge for a single lion to tackle alone.
