Our Wildlife: Naja Ashei

Did you know that the world's largest & longest spitting cobra is found in Kenya. Named "Naja Ashei" it is commonly found in the coastal area of Kenya, though you can also view it in the lower eastern parts of the country.

The brown bodied species, which is named after James Ashe, the founder of the Bio-Ken snake farm has enough venom to kill at least 20 grown up men and grows up to 2.6m (9 feet) long. The basis for honoring Ashe was because for many years, he had argued that the snake was a different species and it is only a few years ago that scientists confirmed what he had believed for so long.
