From above, the sheer scale of this wildebeest herd is simply breathtaking!

Watching thousands upon thousands of wildebeest from a hot-air balloon, slowly moving across the plains, feels almost like witnessing a medieval army marching towards battle. 😁

Yesterday evening, we ventured about 100 km from Nairobi CBD into the Magadi region for a truly thrilling cultural experience — raw Maasai culture, away from the usual tourist trails.
As darkness settled in, the village came alive. The faint barking of African dogs echoed from somewhere in the distance, while above us, a crystal-clear sky unfolded — countless stars shining brightly, untouched by the pollution and city lights of Nairobi.
No traffic. No city noise. Just the Maasai, their traditions, the African night, and an experience that felt beautifully authentic.
This is Kenya beyond the ordinary. This is raw Africa.

Cheetah vs. Jackal: When the Hunter Meets the Scavenger!

The cheetahs gave chase, caught up with the jackal… and then seemed to ask themselves, “Now what?!” 😂

The jackal, realizing the cheetahs had no real plan, switched to maximum coward mode — barking, backing off, and eventually speeding away! 🐕💨

Cheetahs and jackals often cross paths around kills. Jackals are opportunistic scavengers and will happily steal scraps from a cheetah’s hard-earned meal when they get the chance. But this time, the tables were turned — the cheetahs had the jackal cornered and apparently had no idea what to do with their prize! 😅

Nature is full of unexpected comedy.

When a leopard decides to punch above its weight…

Leopards are masters of stealth, usually targeting prey they can overpower and carry into the safety of a tree. But every so often, one takes a calculated risk and goes after something much bigger — like this wildebeest.

In this incredible encounter, the leopard locks onto the wildebeest’s neck, using its powerful jaws to strangle it by cutting off the animal’s ability to breathe. It’s a dangerous battle: the wildebeest is many times heavier, and one powerful kick or horn strike could end the hunt.

So why would a leopard attempt such a risky kill? Opportunity, experience and hunger. Leopards are opportunistic predators and will sometimes tackle larger prey when the circumstances are right — particularly if they can catch the animal off guard, isolate it, or find a vulnerable individual.

This is not an everyday leopard hunt. It is a rare glimpse of one of Africa’s most adaptable predators pushing its limits.

In the wild, size matters — but strategy matters even more.
