Today we pay tribute to Tolstoy, a remarkable elephant who captured the hearts of people around the world. was one of the few last remaining tuskers in the world only found at Amboseli-Tsavo regions of Kenya. Tolstoy was known for his enormous tusks and gentle nature.

Tragically, Tolstoy's life was cut short as a result of human actions. He was speared to death by farmers who were expanding their farms and closing important migratory routes, leaving elephants like Tolstoy with limited space to exist.

Tolstoy's death is a somber reminder of the consequences of human activity on our planet and its precious wildlife. We must take action to ensure that we protect these magnificent creatures and their habitats. Tolstoy's legacy must inspire us to work towards creating a world where wildlife can thrive and live in harmony with human development.

Rare Zebra Photographed in Kenya Captures Global Attention

On October 3, a resurfaced picture of a polka-doted Zebra photographed in Kenya captured the attention of the global - from Kenya to South Africa and the US.

The photo, which was taken in 2019 at Masai Mara, was of a dark Zebra with white polka dots standing next to her mother in regular black and white stripes the species is widely-known for.

“There are a variety of mutations that can disturb the process of melanin synthesis, and in all of those disorders, the melanocytes are believed to be normally distributed, but the melanin they make is abnormal,” HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology geneticist Greg Barsh told the publication at the time.
