Heathrow Escapade – My Great Escape & Lessons Learned"

So there I was, finally at Heathrow Airport, standing in the border control queue, inching closer to the counter. That’s when I instinctively reached for my passport—and my heart nearly stopped. Where was it?!

Cold sweat hit me instantl🙆‍♀️ Weuh aki it was something else nili freeze.
It dawned on me: in the madness of getting off the plane, I had left my sling bag—the one with my passport and all my important stuff—on the plane! Without a second thought, I took off like a crazy person "mbio mwenda "back toward the gate. And let me tell you, it was quite a distance.

By God’s grace, it was a huge flight and people were still disembarking slowly. When I got to the entrance, the cleaning crew was just waiting to get in. I explained everything to the security team, gave them my seat number, and they found my bag! What a scary moment.

I rushed back to the queue and thankfully, border control was smooth. An older gentleman at the desk was super kind, and we ended up sharing a few laughs. Phew!

At that point, I texted my host: “Almost done with immigration!” Her response? “I’m still in a crucial meeting. I’m more than an hour away from the airport.”

I had two choices:

1. Sit and wait at the airport.

2. Be bold, figure out public transport, and take the bus to Swindon (about 1hr 45min away).My host sorted the ticket and sent me

I chose adventure. That meant navigating the terminals (with bags!) using the train, finding the right bus, and managing time. Since I landed at 12:30 PM, I missed the 2 PM bus and had to wait for the 4 PM one. That was an experience.
When I finally arrived at Swindon station, completely drained, I was a picture of those africans you see in Europe with jumper and sweater 🤣 it was freezing. My host sent her husband to pick me up and he recognised me because of what I've just said everyone else was lightly dressed 🤣. I was officially done for the day it felt like I had been travelling for days.

Travel tip I swear by now:
The moment I cleared border control, I bought a local SIM card. Not assuming I’d have WiFi. That little move saved me from so much anxiety. Staying connected helped me figure out things and make calls, it helped me stay calm chatting with my friends back home —especially since it was my first time navigating the UK solo.

The Aberdare National Park is situated approximately 100 km North of Nairobi city and it stretches further to the Aberdare forest mountain. Here, there are different forms of terrains that vary in altitudes ranging from approximately 2,100 meters to 4,300 meters above sea level. This National Park was started in the year 1950 for the purposes of conserving and maintaining the environment and its wildlife. Also, it had an intention of being a tourist’s attraction site for it holds one of the most attractive Mountain Peaks that can be seen from a great distance. They are as high as 4300 meters above sea level. The valleys, rivers and waterfalls found here are just ecstatic.

What actually sets apart the Aberdare National Park?

This is a distinctive National Park that will not be compared to any other in Kenya.
