Integrity and Ethics Training – Seychelles Revenue Commission

A training session on integrity and ethics was held for the Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC), with participation from the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) and the ROCB. The session focused on strengthening SRC’s integrity framework. The MRA shared its structured approach to anti-corruption and introduced the Integrity Toolkit tailored for SRC. Discussions emphasized the need for regular staff training, recruitment assessments, and continued collaboration between SRC, MRA, and regional partners.

Introduction of New Programme Officer

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Dolyn Mbogo has joined the World Customs Organization – East and Southern Africa Regional Office for Capacity Building (WCO ESA ROCB) as a Programme Officer.

We warmly welcome Ms. Mbogo to her new role and are confident that her expertise and dedication will positively contribute to the advancement of our region’s agenda and strategic goals.

Courtesy Visit by Co-operative Bank of Kenya

Today, the Director of ROCB, Ms. Josephine Manyasi, received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Co-op Bank Kenya. The team was led by Mr. Andrew Njuguna, Head of Card Issuance, and included Mr. Samson Metto, Relationship Manager; Mr. George Ndeti, Visa Consultant; Ms. Winfridah Kirui; and Mr. Tembur Towett from the Upper Hill Branch.

The visit focused on exploring avenues for strategic collaboration between ROCB and Co-operative Bank of Kenya.

Congratulations to the Republic of Mozambique on Gazetting Its AfCFTA Provisional Schedule of Tariff Concessions (PSTCs)!

What does it mean to gazette or domesticate a trade commitment? It is an official announcement that enhances transparency, ensuring that businesses, organisations, and citizens are informed of new regulations coming into force. This marks a key step towards the full implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement.

For traders, this provides clarity and certainty, confirming that Mozambique will grant preferential tariff treatment to eligible goods upon importation, in line with its commitments under the AfCFTA Agreement.

PASSING THE BATON - THE HANDOVER

8th July 2025

The outgoing Director, Mr. Larry Liza, officially handed over the leadership of the WCO ESA ROCB to the incoming Director, Ms. Josephine Manyasi. This marked the formal and final transfer of institutional knowledge, responsibilities, and relevant documentation to the incoming Director.

Ms. Manyasi assumes office at a pivotal moment, as the region continues to build momentum in strategic development, innovation in training delivery, stronger alignment with WCO global priorities, and deeper stakeholder engagement.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Director Emeritus Mr. Liza for his dedicated service and unwavering leadership, and warmly welcome Ms. Manyasi as she takes the helm to guide the ESA ROCB into its next chapter of impact and growth.
