The STTA Young Changemakers Program was launched in 2017, the same year the declared as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

Since then, the program has empowered over 6,000 from universities and TVET institutions across Kenya to become champions, leading a new wave of responsible, inclusive, and future-ready tourism across Africa.

The program is anchored on four transformative pillars:
• Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Exchange
• Motivation & Mentorship
• Creativity & Idea Generation
• Recognition & Reward

As we celebrate the incredible journey of these changemakers, join us at the STTA Young Changemakers End-Year Symposium, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EAT.

This year’s 8th symposium, themed “𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆,” marks the culmination of the YCM program’s academic year. It will serve as a platform to celebrate the achievements of students, faculty mentors, institutions, and industry partners.
