Day 04 - Masai Mara National Game Reserve

After an early breakfast, return to Nairobi and fly to Governors' Camp for 3 nights of breathtaking game viewing in open-sided Land rovers. An optional balloon safari is recommended. Met on arrival in Mara and transferred you your lodge. Afternoon shared game drives.

Day 01 - NairobiQ JKIA – INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL

Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi you will be met and assisted by an Africa Journeys representative for transfer to the House of Waine, a quaint private house in a quiet suburb of Nairobi. Depending on your arrival schedule you may opt for some of the excursion that we offer or relax at the pool and lovely living areas. Meals and overnight will be at the House of Waine (LDBB)



Day 02 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast you will visit the nearby Giraffe Center for endangered Rothschild giraffe, followed by the Daphne Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (as featured in BBC's Elephant Diaries). After lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant you will be transferred to the Wilson Airport for a scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival you will be met at the airstrip for transfer to your camp. You will have an introductory nature walk with a naturalist is followed by an off-road game drive before returning for dinner and overnight at the Siana Intrepids Camp (L-DBB)



Day 03 - Masai Mara Game Reserve
Breakfast at the lodge followed by morning and afternoon game drives.



{Today you also have an opportunity to go on a spectacular Optional balloon ride across the Masai Mara. The BALLOON SAFARI ADVENTURE begins in the pre-dawn hours and the magnificent view over the park is thrilling. Towards the end of the flight, you rise to a height of 1500 feet for a panoramic view of the twisting Mara River and the savannah below. After an hour or so in the air, your safari finishes with a flourish: a champagne breakfast in the bush, cooked on the balloon's burners! Day 05 - Naivasha
Departure at 0730hrs

After breakfast check out and drive on the floor of the Rift Valley to the Great Rift Valley Resort whose setting overlooks Lake Naivasha. The resort offers an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, riding, pool and an adventure club. After lunch at the lodge you will visit the Elsa mere Born Free Centre, former home of Joy and George Adamson. You will also take a boat safari on the lake, followed by traditional English tea under tall fever trees. Return for dinner and overnight at the Great Rift Valley Lodge (LDBB)



Day 06 - Naivasha
Today you will relax and enjoy lodge facilities or take optional excursions.

Day 07 - Mt.Kenya

After breakfast we depart early for Lake Nakuru National Park to observe the huge flocks of Flamingo and Pelican. You may also see Black and White Rhino, Leopard, Lion and Rothschild Giraffe. After lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge within the park you will proceed to the world-famous Mt. Kenya Safari Club. Dinner and overnight will be at the Mt Kenya Safari Club (L-DBB)



Day 08- Mt. Kenya
Departure at 0830hrs

Wake up to glorious views of Mt Kenya on a clear day. After breakfast you will visit the Sweet waters wildlife sanctuary, host to the Jane Goodall Sanctuary. Here you will see the chimps that are undergoing rehabilitation, and visit the Rhino Center to learn about Rhino conservation. Afterwards return to the Club for a late lunch and an afternoon of relaxation before dinner & overnight at Mt Kenya Safari Club (LDBB)



Day 09 - Departure
After breakfast, we drive back to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at the Jomo Kenyatta airport for your flight back home. Africa Journeys representative will reconfirm your flights and assist at check-in. 06h00 departure for Ruhengeri, driving through beautiful county side. Arrive at the park gates at 08h00. Registration and briefing by park guides. Enter the Parc National des Volcans and trek for 2 to 8 hrs depending on the family and the movement of the gorillas. The authorities permit only one hour of gorilla viewing. Descend for lunch at a lodge and in the afternoon visit the serene lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Return to Kigali. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel. (BL)

Murchison falls National Park 2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS

Day 01- Kampala – Murchison falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary.

Travel Time: 300 km, 6 hours (2.5 hours to Ziwa)



After breakfast, your guide from Africa Journeys Escapes will meet you at your hotel and drive you to Murchison Falls National Park, stopping en route at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Uganda’s rhinos became extinct in the early 1980s, after a period of civil unrest and heavy poaching. Ziwa was established over ten years ago to breed black and white rhinos, and restore the populations in Uganda’s National Parks. Ziwa offers visitors the rare opportunity to take a walking safari with the rhinos and be only mere feet from them!



After lunch you will continue on to Murchison Falls, entering the park you will drive to the Nile River, catching a ferry across to reach your lodge. Dinner and overnight at Murchison River Lodge or similar (LDBB).



Day 02- Murchison falls: Activities; - game drives and boat trip.

This morning you will depart for an early morning game drive across the rolling plains of Uganda’s largest National Park. The 3,893 sq km park is home to a range of animals, and you will have a chance of viewing some of the Park’s residents including lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. For the birders amongst you, these areas support the secretary bird and the black chested snake eagle, to name a few.



In the afternoon, go for a boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls, where the Nile thunders through a small 7 meter gap plunging 43 meters into Lake Albert. The banks of the Nile are densely populated with crocodiles, hippopotamus, and a range of other wildlife that come to the river to drink. There is also the option of getting off the boat and hiking up the side of the falls to the top. Optional activities includes Falls Hike and Mubako Cultural Performance. Dinner and overnight at Murchison River Lodge or similar (LDBB).



Days 03- Murchison falls – Kampala

Have breakfast and then drive back to Kampala passing via the top of the falls where you can get a closer look and the falls before departing back to Kampala for the evening.

Queen Elizabeth National Park 2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS

Day 01 - Kampala – Queen Elizabeth - Travel time: 460km Approx. 6 hours

This morning you will depart Kampala with an Africa Journeys Escapes for Queen Elizabeth National park stopping enroute to look at the Royal Drum makers, and stand on the equator, where you will be able to be in both hemispheres simultaneously. You will continue through the verdant country side arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon. Arrive in the park in the afternoon and if possible, go for a game drive in the early evening. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Lodge or similar (LDBB).

Day 02 - Queen Elizabeth National park.

In morning, you will have a game drive to the Kisenyi area to look for lion prides and other wildlife like the Uganda Kob, before returning to the Lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon take a cruise along the Kazinga Channel, home to one of the largest concentrations of hippopotamus, as well as herds of elephants, buffalo, and other wildlife that come to drink from the river. The Kazinga also attracts a tremendous variety of bird species including the African Eagle, Open-Billed Stork, and Pied Kingfishers.

Dinner and overnight at Mweya Lodge or similar (LDBB).

Optional activities include Queens Pavilion, Katwe Salt Walk and Kikorongo African Ark Workshop.


Day 03 - Queen Elizabeth- Kampala

Have a morning game drive as you depart the park arriving in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening where your safari will end.
