It's Mother's Day in the UK, but we say Happy Mother's Day to Mothers Everywhere!

Today, we celebrate the women who nurture, protect, guide, and love — fiercely and endlessly.

From quiet sacrifices to life-changing adventures, mothers shape the world in the most powerful ways… often without asking for anything in return.

Across species, continents, cultures, and generations — your strength, your warmth, and your unwavering love never go unnoticed.

From all of us at Wild of Choices, Happy Mother’s Day to every mother, everywhere. 🌍✨

Tonight, We're Going Dark for Earth Hour 🌍💡
Today, Saturday March 28th, from 8:30-9:30 PM (20:30-21:30 hrs), we're joining millions around the world for Earth Hour.
For 60 minutes, we're switching off our lights in solidarity with the planet we work to protect every single day.

Why Earth Hour matters in East Africa:
This isn't just about turning off lights. It's about recognizing that everything is connected.
The wild spaces we share with you on safari—the Serengeti, the Mara, Amboseli, Bwindi—they exist because of healthy ecosystems, stable climates, and committed conservation.

Climate change threatens: 🐘 Elephant migration routes (changing rainfall patterns) 🦍 Mountain gorilla habitats (temperature shifts at altitude) 🦓 The Great Migration timing (unpredictable rains) 🌿 The ecosystems everything depends on

What we're doing:
Tonight, our offices go dark from 8:30-9:30 PM. Our Homes too. One hour of reflection. One hour of commitment to doing better.

But Earth Hour isn't just one hour. It's a reminder that conservation is daily work:
✅ We partner with lodges using solar power
✅ We support anti-poaching efforts that protect carbon-storing forests
✅ We promote responsible tourism that funds conservation
✅ We educate travellers about their environmental impact
✅ We work with communities protecting wildlife corridors

Will you join us?
Tonight, 8:30-9:30 PM, switch off your lights. Sit in the dark. Think about the wild spaces you love. And commit to protecting them—not just for one hour, but every day.

The wild we share with you is worth more than convenience.
Earth Hour. Tonight. 8:30-9:30 PM.

Only in Kenya: Zebras at the Petrol Station 🦓⛽

The abundance of rain means LUSH grass everywhere. Including apparently... the petrol station. The snack bar is right there? 😂

This is Kenya. Where wildlife doesn't follow the rules. Where "normal" is a myth.

And honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome to East Africa, where even the petrol stations have wildlife. 🤭🙈

Drop a 🦓 if this is the most Kenyan thing you've ever seen!

A Hidden Gem in the Mara… Made by Women

Just before you enter the magic of the Maasai Mara, there’s a place many travellers pass without ever knowing its story.

Meet Beats of Beads Trust — a beads museum... a beautiful art centre just outside Sekenani Gate, where culture, creativity, and women empowerment come together.

Here, Maasai women turn traditional beadwork into opportunity — creating stunning pieces that carry stories of identity, heritage, and resilience.

But it’s more than just art.
It’s livelihoods.
It’s dignity.
It’s a future being built, bead by bead.

Step in, share a moment, learn a story, create your own piece — and leave knowing your visit made a difference.

This Women’s Month, we celebrate not just the wild… but the incredible women who shape it.

This is your sign to experience Tanzania 🇹🇿🐃

MIGRATION SAFARI right now!
Southern Serengeti is alive — thousands of wildebeest calves taking their first steps, herds stretching as far as the eye can see, and the raw drama of the wild unfolding in real time.

This isn’t just a safari.
It’s a front-row seat to one of nature’s greatest spectacles.

Fewer crowds. Intimate sightings. Moments that feel like they were meant just for you.

The question isn’t if you should go…
It’s when.

The TRUTH About Safari in the Rain ☔🌿
Happening RIGHT NOW in East Africa.
It's raining. Like, REALLY raining.
And we've made up a little song to go with it.

Green season is in full force, and we need to have a conversation about what "rainy season safari" actually means.

East Africa’s green season has officially arrived — and with it comes a different kind of safari magic.

Not every perfect safari day begins with sunshine. Morning showers paint the landscapes in rich shades of green. Rivers flow stronger, the air feels fresh, and wildlife thrives in the renewed abundance of nature.

Yes, the roads can get muddy and the occasional tow between safari vehicles becomes part of the adventure… but that’s exactly what makes this season special.

Fewer crowds. Dramatic skies. Vibrant landscapes. Wildlife everywhere. And the safari prices are down-right pocket friendly!

If you’ve never experienced safari during the green season, you might be missing out on one of Africa’s best-kept secrets.💚

Happy International Women's Day, to the WOMEN who choose the Wild
Today, March 8th, we celebrate YOU. And we want to honor the women who show up in this industry every single day, often in ways that go unseen.
We celebrate:
The female safari guides
The women running lodges and camps, providing endless service
The female conservationists
The women in community conservation
The solo female travellers
The mothers who bravely brings their children on safari
The women photographers
The women in safari operations
The female rangers
And to every woman who has ever looked at the wild and thought, "yes, that's for me too."

The wild is better because of the women who show up, speak up, and refuse to hold back.

TODAY WE CELEBRATE YOU!

Tag a woman who inspires you.

She almost didn't go 💚
Lisa, 48, newly divorced. Safari was supposed to be with her husband. Marriage ended. Dream ended.
Then she messaged us: "I want to do this. But I'm scared to travel alone."
We told her: Solo travellers are the most transformed people we see.
She booked. Nervously.

Day 1: Quiet, uncertain
Day 3: Asking a million questions
Day 5: Connecting with other solo travelers
Day 7: "The wild reminded me who I am"
Her words after: "I came alone and scared. I left knowing I can do anything. Safari gave me back to myself."

Solo travelers arrive uncertain.
They leave powerful.
The wild doesn't care about your relationship status. It just asks, "Are you ready to see?"
Solo but hesitating? Lisa was scared too.
And it changed her life. 💚

The Honey Badger - Nature's Most Fearless Animal
Meet the honey badger (or ratel, as it's known in East Africa). Pound for pound, this might be the most fearless, aggressive, and downright unhinged animal on the entire continent.

HONEY BADGER FACTS THAT SOUND MADE UP (BUT AREN'T):
🦡 They fight EVERYTHING. Honey badgers genuinely do not care.
🦡 Snake venom barely affects them. They have natural resistance to venom.
🦡 Their skin is nearly impenetrable. Thick, loose, and tough enough to resist bites, piercings and clasps
🦡 They're exceptionally intelligent. Tool use, problem-solving, and escape artistry. Expert!
🦡 They eat literally anything. They're completely omnivorous and utterly unfussy.
🦡 They're solitary and mostly nocturnal. Which is why seeing one on safari is extraordinarily rare and wildly exciting. They're out there—you just rarely see them.
🦡 The name is misleading. They're not actually badgers (different family). They got the name because they raid beehives fearlessly, enduring hundreds of stings to get honey and bee larvae.
🦡 They have a shocking defence mechanism. When threatened, they can release a suffocating stink from a**l glands (like skunks) while simultaneously attacking. It's the "offense and defence simultaneously" strategy.

WHY WE LOVE THEM:
The honey badger embodies a life philosophy: Be small. Be fierce. Take no nonsense from anyone. Eat what you want. Do what you want. And if something tries to stop you, bite it.
In a savanna full of massive predators, the honey badger decided size doesn't matter—attitude does.

Have you ever seen a honey badger on safari? If yes, you're among the lucky few!
