Nairobi National Park was first park in Kenya to be established and gazetted in 1946. The park was then under the management of Game Department now Kenya Wildlife Service...covering 117sq km, is characterized by open plains with savanna grassland sloping gently from west to east; a margin of forest stripe on the west side of the park and the riverine vegetation on the southern side along the Mbagathi River.
The park boast of rich wildlife and birdlife diversity making it a beautiful paradise to visit on a free time and just about 10km from the city centre....In recent past and current time the park has faced various challenges with the main ones being human-wildlife conflicts and encroachment...at the moment the park is on course to lose several acres on the northern side boundary to pave way for the construction of Southern Bypass......development are worth but collect channel of law should well be followed.....your click on the petition counts...to saving our beautiful park..
