Long neck, don't care 😜

This is a type of African antelope called gerenuk whose name means 'giraffe neck' in Somali language.Their head is small for their size, but their eyes and ears are large. Only the males have horns, which are stout and heavily ringed, and they have a more heavily muscled neck than the females do.
They are identified by their unique feeding behaviour whereby they stand on their hind legs with their necks extended to browse on tall shrubs 🌳
Considered near threatened, they are found in the drier parts of eastern Africa e.g lewa/borana conservancy in Kenya 🇰🇪

LEWA CONSERVANCY
The Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an example of a successful protected area of community conservation. Created to maintain and increase the population of some of Africa's most critically endangered species, the 62,000-acre conservancy contains many different types of habitat - from plains to rolling hills, swamps to forests.
With over 70 recorded mammal species within the conservancy, for guests, the wildlife experience is unrivaled.

Lewa serves as a safe refugee for the critically endangered black rhino and the endangered Grevy's zebra, as well as the elephant, lion, giraffe, wild dog, and other iconic wildlife species in Kenya. The Conservancy is also home to more than 450 species of birds. Lewa holds over 12% of Kenya's eastern black rhinoceros population and the largest single population of Grevy's zebras in the world.

Lewa also sees an influx of animal activity during the migratory periods, with over 400 elephants traversing the grounds during each cycle. Visitors can witness the spectacle from a purpose-built Elephant Underpass.

Lewa has dramatic views to the south of snow-capped Mt. Kenya, and the north down to the arid lands of Tassia and Il Ngwesi. It has many diverse habitats from pristine forests, fertile grasslands, extensive springs, and acacia woodland.

A small, eco-friendly ,private tented camp on the banks of the Ewaso Ngiro river set in the Shompole Conservancy, deep in Kenya’s Southern Great Rift Valley, in between Amboseli National Park and the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Shompole conservancy is a largely private conservation area that is located between Lake Magadi to the north and Lake Natron to the south, two alkaline lakes.

The landscape itself is varied, with mountains, soda lakes, rivers and the open savanna all in one place. The soda lakes (L.magadi and L.Natron)are home to the endangered Greater and Lesser flamingos.

The camp gives you the opportunity to experience authentic Africa in comfort and style.

Ladies! Ladies! Ladies! .... anything worth noting from this bird 😁♥️

Southern ground hornbill🦃

Physical Description.
It has a large beak, topped with a bony prominence called a casque. However, they also boast striking features which are its long eyelashes.Its lifespan is between 40-50 years
Superstition around it is believed that should you kill a Hornbill the rains will come with such force that it will literally wash your land away. So strong is this belief, that in times of drought, rain-doctors will actually ritualistically kill a hornbill in order to bring the rain 😳
