Let's talk about one of the most extraordinary ecosystems on the planet. 🌍✨

Mount Kilimanjaro. At 5,895 metres, Africa's highest peak and the world's tallest freestanding mountain. A dormant volcano that rises dramatically from the flat plains below, visible from over 200 kilometres away on a clear day. 🏔️

And at its feet? Amboseli. One of Kenya's most iconic and wildlife-rich national parks, where vast elephant herds roam the open plains against the most breathtaking backdrop imaginable.

Here's what makes this ecosystem truly remarkable 👇

🐘 Amboseli is home to some of Africa's largest elephant herds, and some of the most studied elephants in the world. The Amboseli Elephant Research Project has been running since 1972, making it the longest running elephant study on earth.

💧 The park is fed entirely by underground water from Kilimanjaro's ice cap - filtering through volcanic rock over decades before emerging as springs in the valley below. The mountain essentially keeps this entire ecosystem alive.

🏔️ Kilimanjaro itself passes through five distinct climate zones as you climb, from cultivated farmland at the base through rainforest, moorland, alpine desert and finally the arctic summit. It is an adventure unlike anything else on earth.

🌿 The two together, a Kilimanjaro climb followed by an Amboseli safari, make for one of Africa's most complete and contrasting experiences. Summit the roof of Africa. Then descend to watch elephant herds drift silently across the plains below it. 💛
