One of our guests recently told us her dad nearly didn’t come to Kenya – it simply wasn’t a trip he would have planned for himself.

A year later, he’s still talking about it and showing people the photo book they made after.

Sometimes the people who need the most convincing are the ones who end up loving it most.

Know someone who needs persuading? Send them our way…

It’s the quiet season in Kenya… and one of the things we love most about travelling at this time of year is the lighter impact it has on the landscapes and wildlife.

With fewer visitors moving through, everything feels a little wilder, slower, and more intimate – offering a more authentic safari experience.

Here’s why we love it →

This might just be one of Africa’s best-kept secrets, Wilderness Magashi – – a stunning new luxury safari camp in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park.

Expect exceptional big game viewing in complete privacy, alongside unforgettable boat safaris and total luxury throughout the camp.

Perfectly paired with a once-in-a-lifetime mountain gorilla trek, accessible by scenic drive or helicopter, this is East Africa at its most exclusive.

We’ve been meaning to share some moments from this past high season! A whirlwind of magic and so many amazing encounters.

From travelling across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia.

Here are some of Olo’s favourite snaps. Moments that stopped us in our tracks and reminded us why we love what we do out here in Africa.

Surrounded by elephants, we’re reminded how lucky we are to have these unforgettable experiences and to have people working tirelessly to protect these gentle giants.

This World Elephant Day, we honour Matriarchs & Memories, celebrating the wisdom and protection of the matriarchs who lead their herds.

Today on World Ranger Day, we honour the courage, commitment, and critical work of rangers across the globe who protect our wild places and the communities that depend on them.

We’re shining the spotlight on Connie Mwandaa, a pioneering female ranger in Kenya’s Kasigau Wildlife Corridor. Connie works in Tsavo’s Kasigau Corridor, a forest protection project that we support alongside to offset our unavoidable carbon emissions.

We’re excited to be co-creating transformative experiences at Rukinga Conservancy, part of the greater Kasigau Project area, where our guests will have the chance to engage meaningfully with rangers and conservation on the ground.

This year, we’re marking Earth Day with the launch of our new partnership with Planet Mojo, a Kenyan sustainability consultancy rethinking what climate action looks like in Africa. With them, we’re not just mitigating our footprint — we’re investing in a better future for the people and nature of Africa.

Rather than relying on the conventional route of simply offsetting emissions, Planet Moja helps businesses like ours go deeper: measuring and understanding our environmental footprint and guiding us toward lasting change. For the emissions we can’t avoid, they guide us in supporting their carefully selected, certified portfolio of nature-based carbon reduction and removal projects — empowering local communities to reduce harmful practices, regenerate ecosystems, and restore mangrove forests.

We’ve just dropped a new blog that shares more about our partnership → Our Power, Our Planet: Safaris with Purpose

Last year, we took Flynn to the Masai Mara at the tail end of the migration, when the crowds had thinned out — and he loved it! We camped right by the river, though we had to rethink our spot when we discovered a crocodile sunbathing exactly where we’d planned to pitch the tent 😅 Needless to say, we hurried off in the other direction, giving her plenty of space.

For two nights, we explored the Mara Triangle, and the wildlife was as amazing as always. Flynn was wide-eyed and fascinated by the sounds of the wild — the distant whoop of hyenas and the occasional lion’s roar.

This trip was such a reminder of how adaptable children can be, and what a great option a safari is for a family holiday. The Masai Mara has always been a magical place, but experiencing it with Flynn made it even more special!
