Nairobi national park is a national treasure. This wonderful park makes Nairobi the only city in the work with a game park that means that there is no where else on this planet that you can visit or stay in the capital city and have lions, rhinos and so many other wildlife only afew minutes away.

Nairobi National Park has the highest number of black Rhinos

This Park has the highest density of black rhinos in the country. During your game drive, you will not miss spotting the rhino.

The park is a rhino sanctuary with 76 indigenous black rhinos and 13 white rhinos. These endangered rhinos are transferred here for their own protection from poachers.

Can you tell the difference between a black rhino and a white rhino? Here鈥檚 how to tell them apart, the black rhinos are bush-browsers and carry their heads high.

They have a triangular mouth and hooked upper lip that changed from stripping leaves and thorns off bushes and low-growing trees.

The white rhino on the other hand got their name from a misnomer.

The name white is a mispronunciation of the Dutch word wide. This is in reference to the square upper lip of the white rhino.

They are grass grazers, have longer necks and their heads are bigger, pitched downward towards the ground.

Have you visited the Nairobi national park?

How many animals can you name in the park?

Do you know how you can get to visit the park?

How amazing it is that we have a whole wildlife park in our city with lions and rhinos and so many other magnificent animal and birdlife roaming free,a true testament to our heritage.

Nairobi national park is just 7km from the city centre and hosts a variety of wildlife animals where you can get to see 4 of the big 5. Even though there are no elephants within the park there is the where orphaned baby elephants are taken care of and is always worth a visit to support this worthwhile cause and if you are lucky you get to adopt one of the young ones and help them get the care they need.
is the first park to have been opened in Kenya and offers such a diversity in wildlife such a short distance from the city centre.
It's great for anyone in Nairobi looking for some sightseeing on their layover or maybe after a conference in the city before heading back home. Weekend trips are also great for the family and I remember taking several school trips to tour the park.

I can't talk about the park without mentioning the with over 500 species of birds this would be an excellent place for birdlovers and watchers.

Fun fact: did you know that the park is only fenced on 3 sides and is open for migratory herbivores on to the kitengela plains and birds going down to the kapiti plains?

There are exciting places to stay within the park and I will be touching on those in out next posts.

Meeting Julie from the The Backyard Coffee Lounge in September 2021 together with made me realize the power of a vision and building it brick by brick everyday. It's not going to be glamourous in the beginning but totally worth it in the end

Julie's story was covered in the dailies I think Business daily same year. She brought to life her restaurant by saving money that she got from selling cakes from the boot of her car!
