I am honored to represent the Great Rift Valley Association of Tour Operators - GRATO and Network for Agroecology in Africa at a multi-stakeholder workshop organized by the International Labour Organization ) in partnership with ForumCiv

The workshop, held at Kyaka Hotel in Machakos, focuses on strengthening rules and regulations for the promotion of the tourism and fodder sectors in Kajiado County, Narok County and Nakuru County.

Key discussions center on:
• Harmonizing tourism regulations and promoting responsible, sustainable tourism
• Strengthening licensing, compliance, and decent work standards
• Developing clear fodder policies and quality assurance systems
• Formalizing fodder markets and building climate resilience
• Enhancing linkages between tourism, livestock, and conservation

Strong regulatory frameworks are essential for sustainable growth, resilient livelihoods, and inclusive economic development across our counties.

A male leopard was sighted for the first time at Naivasha Wildlife Sanctuary (Nawisa), a significant ecological milestone that signals the sanctuary's growing importance as a thriving wildlife habitat and a tourism destination.

Leopards are elusive apex predators that only settle in areas with adequate prey, safe cover, and minimal disturbance.

They are among the most sought-after species by wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and nature travelers due to their rarity and secretive behavior.

This development enhances the Sanctuary’s appeal for eco-tourism activities, and research-based tourism, creating opportunities for increased visitation and conservation awareness.
