I am honored to represent the Great Rift Valley Association of Tour Operators - GRATO and Network for Agroecology in Africa at a multi-stakeholder workshop organized by the International Labour Organization in partnership with ForumCiv .

The workshop, held at Kyaka Hotel in Machakos, focuses on strengthening rules and regulations for the promotion of the tourism and fodder sectors in Kajiado County, Narok County and Nakuru County.

Key discussions center on:
• Harmonizing tourism regulations and promoting responsible, sustainable tourism
• Strengthening licensing, compliance, and decent work standards
• Developing clear fodder policies and quality assurance systems
• Formalizing fodder markets and building climate resilience
• Enhancing linkages between tourism, livestock, and conservation

Strong regulatory frameworks are essential for sustainable growth, resilient livelihoods, and inclusive economic development across our counties.

It is one of the major rivers in Africa, the fourth longest river on the continent, and one of the largest African rivers flowing into the Indian Ocean. The basin of this river is 1,390,000 km that is less than half the area of the Nile Basin, the river is 2,574 km long, originating from Zambia🇿🇲, flowing through Angola🇦🇴, along the border between Namibia🇳🇦 and Botswana🇧🇼, then re-enters the land of Zambia, flowing through Zimbabwe🇿🇼 to Mozambique🇲🇿 and pouring into the Indian Ocean.

One of the most famous things this river is Victoria falls, there is also Shufuma falls on the Zambia-Angola border and Ngoni falls near Sioma in western Zambia. On this river there are two major hydropower stations, on this river is the Kariba dam which provides electricity to both Zambia and Zimbabwe. The second dam is the Kahura Bassa Dam in Mozambique, which generates electricity for both Mozambique and South Africa, plus there is a small power plant at Victoria Falls.
