Kirk’s Dikdik, M. (k.) kirkii

Unlike the larger antelope scattered across the plains, Kirk’s Dikdiks prefer intimacy over crowds.

They live in devoted pairs, carving out tiny territories among acacia thickets, rocky scrub, and dense undergrowth.

Once bonded, the male and female move through life together almost constantly — feeding side by side, resting together, and vanishing into cover at the slightest sign of trouble.

🦍 A Second Chance at Life, Right Here in Kenya.

Did you know? Chimpanzees aren’t native to Kenya. But at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 39 rescued chimps have found something rare—a forever home.

Founded in 1993 with the Jane Goodall Institute, this sanctuary is the ONLY place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees . Each resident has a heartbreaking story: victims of the bushmeat trade, illegal pet smuggling, or abusive entertainment . Here, they finally get to just be chimpanzees again—climbing, socializing, and healing across 250 acres of natural enclosures .

WHAT TO EXPERIENCE:

🌿 Visit the Sanctuary – Watch feeding times from the viewing platform (open 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM & 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM) .
