Mount Kenya is Africa’s second-highest mountain at 5,199m and sits almost right on the equator…yet it still has glaciers on its peaks! Once an ancient volcano, its dramatic sharp summits were carved by time and ice, and today the mountain hosts five different climate zones, from lush rainforest to alpine desert. It’s also a sacred place, believed by the Kikuyu people to be the home of Ngai (God), and a wildlife haven where elephants, buffaloes, and leopards roam freely.
