TOSK Condemns Breach of Park Rules in the Maasai Mara

We are deeply concerned by recent incidents in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, where tourists were seen disembarking from safari vehicles near the Mara River during the wildebeest migration.

This behavior is unacceptable and it endangers visitors, disrupts wildlife and risks damaging Kenya’s global reputation as a premier tourism destination.

TOSK fully supports the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) in enforcing compliance and calls for:
•Stronger enforcement by Maasai Mara rangers
•Action against negligence or bias in rule enforcement
•Tourists to be served only by licensed operators and professional guides

In partnership with the East Africa Tour Guides & Drivers Association (EATGDA), we are also rolling out refresher training for registered guides to enhance professionalism and safeguard Kenya’s heritage.

Yesterday marked a proud moment for Kenya’s tourism sector as H.E. President Dr. William Ruto, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Hon. Rebecca Miano C and Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu visited the Maasai Mara National Reserve to witness the iconic wildebeest migration, a spectacle that continues to draw the world’s attention to Kenya.

At we recognize the significance of such high-level engagement. It sends a strong message that tourism is not just a key economic pillar but also a shared national priority. The wildebeest migration is more than a natural wonder but it represents the incredible value of conservation, community involvement and the need for sustainable practices across our industry.

As we encourage collaboration between government, local communities and private sector operators.
