We are working to kickstart Kirinyaga’s first ever public library starting next week.
This will be a space where children and students can access books and enjoy a conducive environment for learning. For adults pursuing further education it will provide a quiet place to study, research and develop new skills. For researchers it will be a place to access useful data, references and other relevant materials.
But this library will be more than just books.
It will be a space where our culture and history are preserved, documented and shared. A place where young people can learn about the people, traditions, stories and events that shaped Kirinyaga and Kenya.
We also want to document and celebrate the journeys of our leaders, capture the stories of our communities and inspire the next generation.
And because learning and conversation go well with a good cup of coffee, we have created a small space where visitors can enjoy coffee grown right here in Kirinyaga.
We are therefore calling upon individuals, organisations and well wishers to support us in making this dream a reality.
You can support us with:
✓ Books and reading materials
✓ Laptops, computers and other learning devices
✓ Tables, chairs and shelves
✓ Internet equipment
✓ Books and materials on Kirinyaga’s culture, history and leadership
✓ Financial support towards rent and renovation
✓ Any other form of in kind support
Every contribution, big or small, will help us create a place that can serve our community for generations.
