Our Story
Reliable overland 4x4 transportation, that’s what we do. We have a full range of rental cars from economy class to expedition class. We put a strong emphasis on exploration and cultural experience. Our cars can travel throughout Central Asia including Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In addition to car and motorcycle rentals we offer camping equipment as well as full service tours.
Iron Horse Nomads was founded in 2013 by Ryan Hornung, an American expat living in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and teaching English. Having decided to move permanently to Kyrgyzstan, he and his wife decided to open their own company. After some experimention in within the transportation and tour industry, the company settled on rental vehicles as the core product. With interest in overlanding in Asia booming, the company has grown rapidly from 3 cars to more than 25. In 2017 the first branch office opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and in 2018 IHN added a full service repair shop as well as a fleet of motorcycles at the Bishkek office.
