Architecture Walking Tour on 17 May, Sunday 10.00-12.00

Join us for an engaging walk through the heart of Bishkek as we explore the monumental architecture of the late Soviet era.

This period is marked by bold, large-scale buildings with minimalist facades, impressive in size, yet restrained in detail and color. Their subdued tones, chosen to suit Kyrgyzstan’s intense summer sun, give these structures an even more monumental appearance.

You’ll also discover how Soviet-era architects studied local traditional architecture and integrated elements of Kyrgyz national identity into their designs, not by simply replicating traditional ornaments, but by reimagining them through scale, spacing, and rhythm.

Date: 17 May, Sunday
Time: 10.00-12.00

Meeting point: Middle of the Victory square, near the eternal flame https://maps.app.goo.gl/EAZnnQbUztYrKWQo8

Day Tour: Burana and Ysyk-Ata Gorge. From Silk Road Heritage to Sacred Springs
On 18 April 2026, Saturday

Step beyond Bishkek for a day that weaves together history, culture, and nature, moving at a gentle pace through mountain landscapes.

Our journey begins with a drive east to the Burana Tower, a striking 11th-century minaret rising from the ruins of the ancient Silk Road city of Balasagyn.

As we walk among scattered stone balbals and archaeological remains, your guide brings to life stories of traders, scholars, and empires that once passed through this crossroads of civilizations.

Continuing into the countryside, we pause for a delicious lunch that offers a glimpse into the cultural diversity of the region.

In the afternoon, we drive toward the peaceful valley of Ysyk-Ata Gorge, long considered a place of healing and spiritual significance. Here, hot mineral springs emerge from the earth, and Soviet-era sanatoriums stand quietly among the mountains. You’ll have time to relax in the warm waters or simply enjoy the calm atmosphere.

From the gorge, we set out on a light walk along the valley toward a small waterfall. The path winds gently upward, offering fresh mountain air and moments of stillness—an invitation to slow down and reconnect with nature.

By evening, we return to Bishkek, carrying with us impressions of past civilizations, living traditions, and the quiet rhythms of the Kyrgyz landscape.

How It All Began. A Ten-Year Journey đŸ„łđŸ’š
Ten years ago, on 11 April 2016, I conducted my first group tour after a year of research, study, and preparation.

It was incredibly exciting to step out and do independent exploration, to interview people, dig deeper, and uncover their stories. Slowly, layers of history began to reveal themselves, like a mosaic made up of countless small, personal stories, not only the official state version of history taught in schools. I wanted to share this with those who came to visit our country, to offer something more meaningful and creative.

Guests who joined these tours often said they had walked these places a tens or hundred times before, yet had never noticed the small details or imagined that important events had taken place there. They discovered the stories of local people, stories that make a country feel alive, complex, deep, and interesting. After the tours, you could see a change in their eyes, you could feel a deeper connection to the land and to its people through these explorations, experiences, and conversations.

This is not an easy job. With every tour, you give away a piece of yourself. Sometimes you feel empty, exhausted, and ready to quit. Over these ten years, I’ve wanted to quit a million times.

And yet, when guests share what the experience meant to them - how the land began to feel special, how it made them pause, reflect, and rethink their perspectives - it keeps you going. There is often a gentle transformation: people find meaningful connections, they find new friends, sometimes even meet their life partners, or discover entirely new ways of seeing the world.

Over time, you meet like-minded people - partners, friends, and incredible team members whose eyes shine with passion for what you create together. A whole community begins to form around shared values.

Thank you all for being with us, whether just for a short walk, being online or taking a long ten year journey with us.
With love 🌿

Art & Architecture Walking Tour on 12 April Sunday 10.00

Join us for a 2-hour walking tour through the heart of Bishkek, where grand Soviet landmarks, elegant theaters, and hidden artistic gems reveal the city’s rich cultural layers.

Together we’ll explore the striking Wedding Palace, the stately Opera and Ballet Theatre, and the modernist Fine Arts Museum, each representing a different chapter in Kyrgyzstan’s architectural story. Our walk continues through the shady avenues of Oak Park, home to an open-air sculpture museum that turns the park into a gallery beneath the sky.

Along the way, we’ll pause at the Ministry of Culture and other lesser-known treasures that often go unnoticed but carry fascinating stories of power, art, and identity.

You’ll learn how Bishkek’s architecture blends Soviet modernism, classical motifs, and local Kyrgyz influences, and how these buildings shaped public life over decades.

Whether you’re an architecture lover, an art enthusiast, or simply eager to see Bishkek from a new perspective, this walk will inspire you to notice the city’s hidden details and bold statements of style.

Nights in a Yurt, Wisdom in the Mountains

Sleeping in a yurt changes how you experience space. Circular, warm, and portable, it reflects a worldview built on balance with land, climate, and time. Felt walls carry the knowledge of generations.

In the high pastures, shepherds still read stars, animals, and wind with knowledge accumulated through centuries. Eagle hunters train their wild birds through trust and patience, continuing a living heritage rooted in respect for the wild.

Here, ancient Tengri beliefs blend naturally with Islamic traditions. Mountains, water, and land are treated as living beings, as relatives.

Experience Kyrgyzstan at a gentler pace.... through meaningful encounters, local traditions, nature and authentic community life

Happy Köktöm! Happy Nooruz! The Season of Renewal đŸŒ±

In the Kyrgyz language, Köktöm (ĐšÓ©ĐșŃ‚Ó©ĐŒ) means the moment when the land turns green and life awakens again. The word comes from “kök”, the color of the sky and fresh vegetation, symbolizing the rebirth of nature after the long winter.

For centuries, Köktöm marked an important turning point for Kyrgyz nomadic life. Snow melted, pastures revived, rivers flowed again, and communities prepared for a new seasonal cycle with their herds. It was a time of hope and renewal.

Today, the arrival of Köktöm is celebrated through Nooruz, the spring festival held around March 21 across Central Asia and many parts of the world.

During Nooruz, people gather with family and neighbors, cook traditional dishes, share meals, forgive past disagreements and welcome a fresh beginning.

Recognizing its cultural importance and the traditions shared by many peoples, UNESCO has inscribed Nooruz on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Today, in Kyrgyzstan, Nooruz continues to connect ancient traditions with modern life. Public celebrations, music, national games, and community gatherings remind us of a simple message:

Just like nature renews itself during Köktöm, people too can begin again 💚

Happy Nooruz! May Köktöm bring renewal, peace, and prosperityđŸŒ±
