Industry Walking Tour on 7 June, Sunday, 10.00

“Interhelpo 100”: From Žilina to Bishkek 1925–2025
Step off the beaten path and into remarkable history. We’ll uncover forgotten corners of Bishkek that still carry the spirit of those who believed in building a just world through industrial growth, one brick at a time.

One hundred years ago, in 1925, the first group of Czechoslovak socialism builders arrived at the newly constructed Pishpek railway station—then the very end of the rail line.

After a grueling month-long journey by train, they stepped into an unfamiliar land with one shared mission: to ignite industrial progress in Soviet Kyrgyzstan.

Founded in 1923, the Interhelpo cooperative brought with it more than idealism—it brought expertise, machines, and a vision for a better future. From the first hum of electricity to the clatter of textile looms, Bishkek (then Pishpek) changed rapidly under their influence.
